Friday 29 – Saturday 30 October Writing Aloud: Voice and the Writer
The National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) is the one organization supporting the development of creative writing of all genres and in all educational settings throughout the UK.
Booking is now open for the next NAWE conference, which will be held this autumn in York on the theme of ‘voice’. NAWE aims, through its conferences, to bring together writers and other education workers to share practise, learn from each other and develop professionally in a focused and supportive environment.
The conference will open on the evening of Friday 29 October with our launch event, Voices. Poet Ros Barber, young performance poet Joseph Coelho, York St John Royal Literary Fund Fellow Linda Hoy and playwright and poet Naomi Wallace will read from their work. The conference programme is full and varied, with workshops and seminars relevant to writers working in higher education, schools or community settings, and spanning poetry, performance poetry, fiction, drama, storytelling and writing for radio and on-line. The cost of the conference is £25 for members and £40 for non-members. For anyone wishing to attend the Voices event only, tickets are £5 / £3 concessions and may be booked by calling 020 8670 5407.
